I am a PhD candidate in Computational Media at Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI), advised by Lane Harrison, Phoebe Toups Dugas, and Rose Bohrer. I am a member of the WPI Intentional Design Studio and WPI VIEW Lab. As an interdisciplinary researcher, my work explores the intersection of human-computer interaction (HCI), human-centered (critical and cultural) computing, data visualization, interactive media and game studies, and ethical studies.
Collaborating with scholars across the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, Japan, and China, I employ interdisciplinary and mixed-methods approaches to examines the intersections of digital health, communication, culture, design, and marginalized identities, with the goal of generating actionable insights and design solutions for real-world challenges.
As a research assistant at WPI Computer Science department, I design, develop, and evaluate HCI and data visualization products, interactive systems that support and promote digital & mental health, ethics, communication, scholarship, and external partnerships.
I'm also a 2D/3D game artist, multi-skilled interactive media developer, designer, and bartender. Before embarking on a career as an HCI researcher, I completed a Bachelor's program in Video Game and Animation at the Hubei Institute of Fine Arts (HIFA) in Wuhan, China, in 2018. I instructed the game studio courses for the HIFA School of Animation as a Teaching Assistant, while founded my own game company, Wuhan KBOOM Network Technology Co. LTD, driven by my entrepreneurial spirit. These experiences motivated me to contemplate the interrelation among computational media, identity, and cultural backgrounds; consequently, this led to my decision to pursue a career in HCI research.
Please feel free to contact me if you are interested in my work or simply want to chat about cultures in games, and that could be the beginning of a wonderful tale!
